When most people go on vacation, they tend to let their guards down, feasting on whatever, whenever to satisfy cravings and indulge. However, too much indulgence leads to a mega expansion in your waistline, which can be depressing when your vacay ends. That said, there are plenty of ways to munch on healthy foods while hanging around Hilton Head Island, especially when you head over to the Watusi Café.

The benefits of eating fresh vegetables and local-harvested fruits, grains, and meats has been proven time and again, so maybe it’s time you jumped on the healthy “whenever, wherever” bandwagon. You’ll feel better while you’re traveling and look better when you get home, plus the food is scrumptious, homemade, and as fresh as can be—so, it’s all a win-win.

The Fresh Favorites of Watusi Cafe’s Awesome, Fresh Menu

The Watusi Café serves up delicious favorites, like Eggs Benedict in one of 6 ways, as well as a full breakfast and lunch menu. Breakfast begins at 7am and lasts throughout the day, while lunch starts at 10:30am. Both last until closing time, which is 3pm Monday through Sunday. The hours allow this café to remain eco-conscious and neighborhood-friendly, while offering fresh, homemade meals that locals and travelers can rave about.

Breakfast menu favorites include:

  • Classic pancakes with two strips of either bacon or sausage, with a side of yummy syrups, like maple or blueberry.

  • Light breakfast eaters prefer the parfait, a crunchy favorite of seasonal fruit layered with house-made granola and Greek yogurt.

  • Bigger, heartier breakfast favorites include the Breakfast Burrito, the Classic Breakfast Sandwich, and The Big Watusi Sandwich, which is scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and melted cheddar cheese on a fresh-baked, toasted French baguette.

There are more breakfast go-to items, of course, but that gives you an idea of what these café geniuses serve for your a.m. meals.

Eco-friendliness is something the Watusi Café crew cares about tremendously. Of course, they source their ingredients from local farmers, which is a definite step in the right direction—but they also use bio-degradable materials to serve on-the-go patrons. Their meals are just enough that you can eat right there or take some in a to-go box for a lunch later. Their straws are paper, most of their dressings are house-made, and they prefer to do mostly everything by hand to cut down on waste.

These small eco-conscious steps might seem like the proverbial drop in a bucket, but they can go a long way towards the preservation of a planet - yet another healthy habit. The Watusi Café is making a contribution towards goodness and health, rather than going to route of pollution and greed. They encourage their patrons to do the same with each new example they set.
